Carboholic

Since I was a baby, when asked what was my favorite food, I'd say, RICE!!! It is because I never feel satisfied, contented, or full, without a generous serving of white rice... Bad, bad, bad... Why? Because I don't get enough exercise... I believe that the only way I could help my digestive system melt down all those sucrose, glucose, fructose, yeast, starch, etc. inside my tummy is to get at least 30 minutes a day Cardio and reduce the intake of Carbo... Hell for me...

Two weeks ago, I looked in the mirror and almost puked at what I saw... Fugly creature that is! I decided to cut down on rice and bread and get on with my South Beach diet... I bought a book 4 years ago, and tried some of the recipes... I lost 20 lbs. in 6 months... Yes, it's that effective (for me)...

So far, I've been a good girl and have been omitting rice and bread in all my meals... But yesterday, after reading Patty's post about Bun On The Run, grrrrrrrrrr!!! I wasn't able to control the hunger pangs... I asked Marnie if she likes it too, and of course, she didn't even say NO, so off the messenger to Trinoma to get us some buns!!!

Well, I didn't have any regrets after eating... Even though I have committed a major crime in the law of South Beach, at least I enjoyed every bit of it!!! This Chori Burger is really good! Patty, you are an instrument to a pound I've re-gained yesterday...

Another Gastronomic Attack!

You guys know how much I love food... Isn't it obvious??? But the truth is, I enjoy eating so much that it is really impossible for me to go on a diet because I can't even eat without having at least 2 different kinds of food, whether it'd be fish and meat, meat and veggies, or beef and pork, and so on... Plus major carbo of course - steamed white rice...

Anyways, this afternoon, I had to buy some groceries,

(sorry, I just had to put my little big boy's picture
while he patiently waits for me picking up fruits)

so I headed to Power Plant so I can try out the newly opened restaurant,

owned/franchised by Chef Jeroen Van Straten and his wife, designer/writer/blogger/stylist Cecile Zamora Van Straten...
I don't know them personally but I belong to the
Chuvaness Army, so to speak...

I admit, I may sound a bit biased, but actually, several weeks ago, I tried Pepper Steak (the imitation) - the one in Trinoma, which I believed is managed by the Teriyaki Boy group. I tried eating there because I was craving for that kind of food since Chuvaness has been posting a lot about their restaurant which was still under "dry-run"... Meaning, I still can't eat there...

So I had no choice but to try Pepper Steak (the imitation)... The beef, the pork, the chicken, and the veggies, were bland... They have 2 sauces - both are sweet type, if I remember correctly, one is Teriyaki, and the other one is Honey... I don't know, but I'm not the eater who enjoys sweet food, I'm the garlicky, spicy, and flavorful type...
In short, I didn't like Pepper Steak (the imitation).

At Pepper Lunch, yes, there was a long queue... It took us about 17 minutes (yes I timed it) to reach the cashier. It is a fast-food type restaurant, like KFC, Jollibee, etc, but, this one is of course a lot different... You don't get to order unless you already have a table... That system works for me. Because I hate it when people holding their food trays standing behind me waiting for me to finish my food, so they can take my seat! Isn't it disgusting???
So for that...

Oh, and another thing, while we were waiting, we were given
free small portions of Pepper Rice... Another
.

Yes, that's the one I was holding and munching... That guy on the left wearing orange was watching me after I took my first bite... Funny thing, I didn't even make "pa-cute", I told my cousin, SARAP!!! - with wide eyes, then I looked at him and he has this evil grin... Super duper embarrassing... What was he thinking??? Did I look super takaw??? I think so...

We finally reached the counter... I ordered Teriyaki Chicken for Cassie and Yaya, Beef Pepper Rice for myself, Chicken Pepper Rice for Paolo, and 1 Shimofuri Pepper Steak for both of us... Hahahaha... Takaw talaga...

When we reached our table, our food began arriving... I was shocked because it was really fast! I was deeply concentrating on our steak when my beef pepper rice arrived... The waiter asked me politely if I would like him to mix the beef since I was busy with the steak... He was kinda worried my beef would get burn... So I gave him the honors of cooking my beef... Isn't that neat???

Shimofuri Pepper Steak

Chicken Teriyaki

Chicken Pepper Rice

Beef Pepper Rice

Cassie enjoyed her Chicken Teriyaki...

After a few minutes....

Look at all those empty plates...

Our bill...

Not so expensive!!!

The restaurant has just opened this weekend and is still working on their credit card acceptance so you may have to bring cash when you dine in...

Now the question is, am I coming back???

DEFINITELY...

McDreamy and Me...

I just had to have a picture with him...

At Trinoma, last Saturday, I saw this "life-size" picture of McDreamy for the film, Made of Honor... The lady's face was cut-off so everyone else can have a picture with the groom...

The thing is... I am terribly short...

There was no stool or chair...

I tried putting up my face on that hole but unfortunately, only my bangs would show... Pathetic...

Movie house ticket collectors were all laughing at me as I asked my hubby to carry me just so I can poke my head on that hole...

But still.... No luck....

Hubby tried carrying me but didn't even last a second, he said he'd rather borrow a chair at the nearby restaurant than die carrying my big butt...

So he did... Took a chair at - I forgot what restaurant that was, but the people were kind enough to lend him....

Finally...

I look so dark standing up beside him... And I think we don't look good together... But at least I tried... Oh, and by the way,
I didn't watch the movie...

So Carrie...

There is no way anybody can carry this except for Carrie...

Anyway, the bag is made of acacia wood with a black bengaline shoulder strap. While Carrie's bag has 6,300 Swarovski crystals and costs a ridiculous $2500, the non-crystallized version is only $415.

Jeezzzz... I don't think my cellphone could even fit in there...

My smart kid

This afternoon, Fonzie woke up with a slight cold... I think he has runny nose... I looked inside my medicine cupboard and found an almost empty bottle of Disudrin...

A few minutes ago, I asked Cassie to text her Papa to buy Disudrin Drops for Fonzie... I didn't write it, I just told her to text the med...

Her Papa replied, OK, and I saw what she texted: Papa, this is Cassie, please buy Penelpropanolamine Disudrin Drops...
